This week's project idea is a little one, because we all need quick stitches (and finishes) in our back pocket. My teeny tiny whale comes from a collection of teeny tiny charts released on the Hugs Are Fun blog - every Friday Rebecca releases a new little collection of charts, and every week I save them in case I need something super-quick to stitch (like during StitchyBox packing week, when I still want to post a project idea for you, but I have 20 yards of fabric to cut :) )
Chart: freebie available on the Hugs Are Fun blog (part of the Free Pattern Friday - Tiny Cross Stitches collection)
Fabric: 14 count Stormy Grey Aida from Garibaldi's Needleworks
Thread: Winter Queen (StitchyBox exclusive colorway from Gentle Arts) for the whale body, Sullivan's cotton floss for the eye and water spout
Frame: Bamboo Hexagon frame by Beadeux
If you pop over to the HRF blog, you might notice my water spout is one stitch off from the chart - if I'd stitched it in the right place, it would actually fit a bit better in the frame, but unfortunately I didn't notice it until after I'd glued everything together.
To finish the stitching in the frame, I followed the tutorial we posted back in March 2015, but I didn't worry about using interfacing on this one, because the Aida was stiff enough without it.
Now I want to hear from you - what are you stitching this week? Leave a comment below and let us know!
