Every week we share a project stitched with products from our most recent StitchyBox shipment. If you'd like to see a project you've stitched in a future post, check out our Project Model Stitcher's Program!
Happy Wednesday, stitchers! We still have a day or two's worth of work left to get your March/April StitchyBox shipments in the mail, but I wanted to take a quick break today and share a new project idea with you since we missed last week. Introducing my teeny tiny over-one Primrose Sampler:
Chart: Primrose Sampler by Threadwork Primitives. This chart came out in 2011, but when I checked a few weeks ago it is still available to order from your local shop or the designer directly.
Fabric: 32 count Violet Mist linen
- Forget Me Nots - Thread Gatherer Silk N Colors
- 5016 - Kreinik Silk Mori (you could definitely use just a 1/2 skein here!)
Embellishment: 28 count bohin needle
This final project is actually the third version that I started, and it served as a good reminder to me that I should follow my own advice - if the project isn't working for you, don't force yourself to keep working on it and being miserable!
All three versions used these same materials. The first was stitched over 2 using one strand of silk (going for that "samplery" look), and was quickly abandoned after I stitched the "A". The second version , shown here with the final project, was over 1, but with the colors switched. I really liked the look of the alphabet in the variegated thread until I started stitching the dividing lines in the Silk Mori.
I also made a few personalizations to the project (other than the obvious colorways changes): I changed the center of the little medallion to a modified rhodes square and changed out the "1820" in the bottom left for a "SB", using the alphabet from the rest of the charge. With the drastic color change, it felt a bit weird to add the 1820 date, and once I stitched the S and B (for StitchyBox), I couldn't stop myself from sticking my needle in, in homage to our logo!
I've also left the border off, since I haven't decided how to finish this tiny little sampler yet, and thought I might want to incorporate the border into the finishing process.
I'd love to hear about what you are stitching this week - leave a comment below and share a photo of your WIPs and/or finishes. Happy Stitching!
